Hi, I’m Shannon! An Advanced and Diabetic Foot Care Nurse. After decades working across many diverse areas of nursing, I chose to focus my practice on foot health, an often overlooked but critical component of overall wellness, especially for individuals living with diabetes.
I specialize in gentle, advanced foot care aimed at preventing complications before they start. My work includes a comprehensive assessment, routine and advanced nail and skin care, callus and corn management, and early identification of high-risk conditions. I am particularly committed to protecting limb health, reducing the risk of infection and ulceration, as well as helping my patients maintain comfort, mobility and independence.
What truly sets my practice apart is my belief that exceptional care begins with trust, education and compassion. I will take the time to listen, educate and to ensure that each patient feels respected, supported and empowered in their own care. Whether working with seniors, individuals with chronic conditions, or those just seeking preventative foot care. I approach every patient with the same level of professionalism and kindness.

Michelle De Grandmont is a bilingual registered advanced diabetic foot care nurse with over 15 years of experience in the health care sector. Michelle’s desire to share knowledge and connect with people, has directed her to several positions which include teaching at Foot Canada Training, holding the position of the Ontario Provincial Advisor for the Canadian Association of Foot Care Nurses and, previously, as an instructor at Algonquin College where she developed an innovative and highly successful advanced diabetic foot care program. Specializing in gerontology, acute care medicine, diabetes and holistic healing modalities, Michelle is also a frequent motivational speaker on best practice adherence in nursing foot care.
Most notably, Michelle is the founder, owner and operator of Soft Soles Advanced Diabetic Foot Care. Soft Soles takes a three-pronged approach to foot care by meeting the lower limb health care needs of communities, connecting individuals to local organizations and resources, and offering new foot care nurses training, education, employment opportunities, professional support and mentoring. Through the delivery of foot care clinics in the Ottawa area, Soft Soles carries out its mandate to provide knowledge and tools to maintain and foster independence. She has a background in working with adults with developmental disabilities and would see the health complications that often arose from co morbidities, specifically diabetes and how this affects peoples foot health.
